Wikpedia hoax.

I read an awesome story on yahoo about how an Irish student entered in a fake quote on Maurice Jarre's wikipedia page and it got used in several obituaries. So far, The Guardian is the only one to acknowledge the mistake, others seem content to just delete it from their online listings and pretend that it never happened. This just reinforces my stance that everyone just goes to Wikipedia now to research something.

When I was taking one of my reference workshops at the Teenscape area of Central Library, the librarian said the first places teens go for information are Wikipedia and Google.

I mostly use Wikipedia for pop culture junk. I'd never use it seriously for research.

Yeah, I use it all the time, but if I was writing a paper or something, that's not where I would go for reliable info, especially if I was going to cite something. But I think everyone uses it because it's easy to punch in the address and look up whatever you want to look up.

Kids today have it so easy. Man, I sound old.
